About

Born 1958 in Michigan, USA

Photography studies at RISD, completed graphic design training in 1983 in Oslo. Her earlier work spans a broad range of visual design: illustration, book design, corporate identity, information and digital design. Member of AGI. Member of Designgruppen ’94, where was co-designer of the visual identity program for the Winter Olympics at Lillehammer and created the sports pictograms for these Games. Rosenbaum was a founding partner of Bergsnov, Mellbye and Rosenbaum, and of Making Waves design firms before taking her current position combining design and research at the Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services in 2004.

Finished doctoral thesis in 2010, based on projects carried out at the Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services. The overreaching aim of her thesis was to explore how a design approach can help facilitate evidence-informed health care. This was done in two different ways: 1) through the design development of specific artifacts that lead to improved user experience of systematic reviews and 2) through design-relevant knowledge from that emerged while developing these artifacts. Built around a core of 4 empirical studies, the thesis also discusses what methods might we use, what results we can achieve, and how might a design perspective contribute to a better understanding of the problems involved in bringing knowledge from research into practice as well as – conversely – what we might learn about the nature of design while carrying out such inquiries.

She is currently employed at the Norwegian Knowledge Centre for Health Services, combining design and research work in projects aimed at enabling evidence-informed health care and policy making.

Areas of research interest: user-experience, knowledge translation, health literacy, numeracy, information design, evidence-informed health care.
